Is it advisable to try to undertake this location with a L9 Commander with a vanilla assault rifle and a somewhat upgraded stormbreaker gun or it will just be a drain of precious resources better spent on other things first?
Upgrading weapons is one of the easiest way to get through a location, but don’t expect any easy enemy. I don’t know if you already have access to G1 frag grenades kit but as soon as you have research them. They will become very handy and with 30 discount! The same applies to U1 medpacks kit… They will be very useful for very long time. I’m at the Defence Line location and U1 medpacks kit is the most used item.
Also let me aware you that his is a Secondary Story Location, meaning that you don’t have to clear it out to keep going in the game!
And if you have the chance, build the Reconnaissance Center and search at least the 2nd level of the strongest enemies. Snipers would be a good choice. They are a pain in the a**. I don’t know if you’re already facing Damon Shield Bearer but he would also be a good choice to be research up to at least Level 2.
Hello!
I have access to researching the vulcan MG (which I postponed as I wanted to have the Training Range first) but not the G-1 frag kit… I get that offered after defeat but it requires lots of gems and I cannot afford it.
Got past turrets in previous primary locations somewhat but the one in this location is tearing me to pieces and it’s blocking all my bullets no matter what weapon I choose.
Hiding behind the shield doesn’t help much but to prolong a bit the time before the inevitable defeat occurs. Sure, I’m aware it’s an optional enemy but if I go past it, I will not be able to get back to it later, right? I’ll rather spend some time upgrading the character, since I guess that not being able to pass the turret it just means I’m rushing too much.
You can always go back to complete locations you left incomplete.
There is a very important aspect that will do all the difference. An aimed shot will stop one attack from the enemy, meaning that if you save your aimed shots to use right before a turret attack starts, your survival chances will increase exponentially. And of course, upgrading your partner is always a god strategy. Frisky is the best mate until you research Roxy!
Uhm… When I follow/activate one of the (green? Yes… I’m color-blind) arrows that allow one to progress through any location, that arrow will disappear and seems one cannot retrace to previous check-point… Or did I miss something here? In this location, I’m stuck at the 1st encountered turret. Upon attack, I immediately shoot at the turret (yes, tried both the Fighter AR or Stormbreaker handgun which I have been upgrading as best I could, having now dmg20,mag11,crit10%). The turret just blocks any hit, suffering no damage at all except from G-1 grenades and the only one aimed shot I (sometimes) have time enough to pull off… Even if I get the timing right and take cover behind the shield (crouch down) at the right moment, it’s just a matter of seconds before I get shredded to pieces by the incoming barrage of bullets from the turret… One med-kit gets used but there isn’t time enough for another G-1 frag or another aimed shot to come online soon enough… I got close to eliminate the turret several times, but it always has enough life to survive till ready to fire again before I can finish it off… I’m working right now to build a Training Range (was tempted to research the vulcan but ammo?) and will work on max the handgun and AR before progressing any further in the main story… If I cannot handle turrets, it’s a clear indication I shouldn’t bother rushing ahead… Snipers, too are a real pain but somehow I feel I now have a grasp on them now, thanks to the suggestions in Q&A. Cheers 😉
Well, you need to read a bit more about the game. There are several types of weapons. There are also several types of enemies. There are Acid weapons, Energy weapons and Regular weapons. Acid and Energy weapons are for fighting armored enemies. Regular weapons are useless against armored enemies! Turrets are armored enemies. So, for fighting turrets you need Acid Pistol or Shocker Pistol (base pistol) and grenades as also aimed shots. Acid pistol is available after defeating at the huge bug that randmoly attacks your base known as Overlord
I’m eagerly sifting through what I can read but I’m obviously missing something. Only have basic things unlocked, a few locations, a few weapons… I’m now in the condition where only passing the turrets at both the Psionic Base or the Outpost would allow me to progress but I cannot currently, because the turrets are proving to be a much stronger opponent I can usually take off. All the weapons you’re mentioning sound like “very” advanced stuff to have, as much as the Recon Centre you mentioned already several times… Shocker Pistol? Oh my… Maybe I should unequip my best gun just to pass through… SIGH… It’s very confusing. Not a bad game but very confusing… And attacking an Overlord when I cannot take out a turret? It just sounds like a suicide in terms of resources needed.
Well, over time you’ll see that there is a purpose for everything in the game as there is in life. And yes, turrets are a lot stronger than any other enemies, except maybe the bosses themselves. Anyway, Use a grenade as soon as you can, use an energy weapon (shocker is the inly one you have for now) when turret is not shooting, use medpacks as soon as you can but take advantage of the health they can recover. Medpacks are automatically used when your health is under 30% but it may be too late, so use them when you see, in case of U1 medpacks, that your health is under 75% or so, don’t wait longer. The soon as you use them, the sooner they’ll be available again and don’t forget to use aimed shots right before a turret strike is about to begin.
If you’re too desperate you can always wait for the smuggler to appear and purchase a Megathrone Pistol (energy weapon) if you are between level 7 and 25.
Thanks for the many advices 😀
