Also can say that this is a shotgun without range penalty and uses a machine gun’s ammo 😉
Still really much bang for a buck
Does anyone know if this is better than the dominion MG in pvp? I mean especially against turrets, terminators and protoarmor, those being usually what a high-level player encounters in pvp, and all of them are armored. If someone tested acid canon compared to dominion MG please share….
I would assume it’s better just looking at the stats. It has 220 more base damage, and on top of that does an extra 30% against armored targets while the Dominion MG does half. That means the Acid MG basically does 1170 dmg vs armored while the Dominion MG only does 340. It also has double the crit chance when fully upgraded and a faster reload. Of course it has almost a third the capacity and a slower rate of fire, so who knows. Just based on these stats though, the Acid MG seems significantly better.
Why is the canon considered better than the acid shotgun? The shotgun has bigger damage with 1190 max. I guess Im just missing something obvious.
Obvious is that the acid shotgun can deal it’s full damage only from short distance 😉 and acid canon from any distance
It totally depends on what your target is. The dominion MG’s high rate of fire makes it a pretty solid weapon when facing multiple enemies where putting a lot of firepower down range in a short amount of time is important. However, the above comment, made by Ricky, about its damage vs armored targets is right on the money. Here’s what it breaks down to, the dominion MG has a clip of 50, so if you total up total damage per clip and factor in rate of fire and reload time, that’s how you’re going to figure out your overall effectiveness vs a particular enemy. Here’s an example, keep in mind that rate of fire and reload times were estimated because no exact specs are given; if the dominion MG does 680hp damage over 50 rounds and has a rate of fire of 5 rounds per second with a reload time of 5 seconds, that means that I’m putting 34,000hp of damage down range in 10 seconds and overall time per clip is 15 seconds. So if you compare that calculation with the acid cannon, which has a much slower rate of fire, significantly smaller clip size, but a much quicker reload rate, as well as a higher base damage and an acid munition, giving you bonus damage against certain targets, it’s going to tell you which MG is more effective in what situation. That above calculation doesn’t even take in to account critical shots, which is 20% for the acid cannon and only 10% for the Dominion MG.

For its fire rate, of course yes, it shoot at shortgun firerate.
Well, in the mean time, I bought it and upgraded it to max. It is by far the best weapon in the game, considering also the “commercial” part. I can take down another player’s base (pvp I mean) with 50 bullets tops, even less sometimes, depending on the behaviour of the enemies, whilst with the dominion MG I needed a bit over 100. For sure the best weapon against anything with armor
SunSidTDM, if you only consider fire rate, then yes, it’s a slow one. But don’t forget the damage that is the same as a shotgun and it doesn’t even have the decreasing damage at longer distance. Basically it’s a Machine Gun with shotgun fire rate and damage at any distance!
Technically it’s “cannon”, neither “shortgun” nor “MG” (that’s why it fire very slow and hold just a few ammo).
But with using MG cartridge, dealing max damage on any distance,its design and how commander hold it, these make it be in MG catagory.

I assume you mean whether you can get the Acid Cannon now that you’ve dismantled the Acid Shotgun. IIRC, you can still research and produce the acid cannon even with a dismantled acid shotgun, but if you mean to get the shotgun back, I’m afraid it’s impossible.

Could someone please help me out with my question? If i research statis shot for my rifles, does it proc in pvp while defending? And if i upgrade my my clip aswell crit chance, do they apply to my rifle while im the defender in pvp?
For the stasis shot no, when upgrading your weapon I think it should apply but I’m not 100% sure.
The thing I’m sure of is upgrading your partner also upgrade your team when defending in pvp.
