Is this shotgun worth the 1600 gems knowing that I’m about to go to level 35 where will be more items to unlock? Should I buy it or should I wait for the new items that are about to come?

    • avatar Гудвин ( Captain Captain Player's Rank 198 )

I think it’s much better to buy a Megathron machine gun. It appears in Rebecca’ deals at 41.
It has an expensive ammo, but it worth that.

      • avatar HelloShitty ( Lieutenant Colonel Lieutenant Colonel Player's Rank 294 )

The problem is that Acid Pistol is already a bit weak for the forthcoming enemies of Black Legion and I really need something stronger than Acid.
But I’ll wait some more time…

I had the same problem with the black legion at first. I tried with the shotgun grenade and using the pegasus and Rico, but I couldn’t beat them without using grenades or med packs. I eventually just sat around collecting resources until I did enough 4th level terror missions and hacking missions to get enough gems to buy the spider. The spider kind of sucks, but he hits a bit harder than the acid gun and let’s me use the pegasus to fight off the unarmored enemies. Don’t know what I’d be doing without the spider… Grinding missions to afford a large supply or med packs and grenades I suppose

      • avatar HelloShitty ( Lieutenant Colonel Lieutenant Colonel Player's Rank 294 )

Well, the first 3 enemies I struggled to beat them but I finally did using U2 MedPacks and G2 frags… Already got the Pegasus but is useless against armored enemies. That UFO Pistol is in the same location as Pegasus? I think it’s in another location, right?

      • avatar Гудвин ( Captain Captain Player's Rank 198 )

UFO pistol is in the UFO Crash Site location. It opens with the hack in the left upper corner of the Black Legion Checkpoint location.
Look at the Black Legion Checkpoint walkthrough in the environment theme.

Pegasus is indeed useless . I even don’t think that it worth to waste time to upgrade it. I even didn’t researched it.

I bought this shotgun as soon as I could and it served me really well right up until I got the Megathrone Machine gun and the Acid Shotgun, so well into the Black Legion. I don’t like weapons that don’t do damage to armored enemies so I spend most of my gems on Energy Damage weapons, I think they are well worth it! I have bought the M3 and M5 Pistols, Megathorne Shotgun and Megathorne Machine gun, and not regretted any of them (I dismantled the M3 once I had fully upgraded the M5 and got 900SP).

My advice: Use this site to create a wish list of all the things you want or need (such as UFO pistol etc.) Then focus your time/energy on getting it without leveling up too quickly. You don’t always have to clear a sector to move onto the next sector, and most of the side missions you don’t have to terraform at all. For example I’m at Lv53 at at the first Dominion sector (Gate) but my Kingpin’s Hideout is still only 28% complete! I went into the sector, got Roxy, killed Kingpin and got the Black box, then have never been back! Plan your route through the game and remember that it is best to level up slowly because the advantages of leveling up are very limited.

      • avatar HelloShitty ( Lieutenant Colonel Lieutenant Colonel Player's Rank 294 )

Sure… Energy weapons are very good choices. I only bought the Megatrhone 2 AR.

About the game plan, well, that’s not that straight as it looks because you’re saying that once you get to know some precious details about the game. When I started I didn’t know that I could avoid cleaning all sectors 100% or even that I could skip side-story locations. As soon as I’ve realised that, I changed my strategy. Started to build up my defences as high as I could and researching the most important techs also as high as I could. However, you’ll get to a point where you’ll need to level up or because you just need better weaponry or because your enemies are too strong for you even if you have everything maxed out, which is kind of my case. I’m at level 45 but in archipelago I can’t find enemies close to my level. They are all level 55 and up so they have stroger armors, stronger weapons and so on. I just can’t compete with them by now because I have reached 4k points and there are not as many enemies as that at level 45 (or close) with abou 4k points…

After all, the game plan all depends on the kind of game you wan to play!

      • avatar Noob101 ( Sergeant Sergeant Player's Rank 34 )

Just one point, what do you mean by

and most of the side missions you don’t have to terraform at all.

        ?

My first target is not any patrticular weapons yet (…..maybe the Acid Handgun), i tried to Terraform as many areas as possible, and reach highest level Anomaly Decay of my level as soon as i can, because at Lv.5 will drop FREE GEMS. Even the lower level anomalies makes it drop more resources. More Terraformed areas = more places where anomalies can spawn.

      • avatar Tal ( Private Private Player's Rank 1 )

He’s right. First time I played this game I went thru levels so quickly (to get the next best weapon) that I didn’t really have time to built up my gem, defenses, enemy vulnerability. In able to keep up with everything I always had to work hard so that my resources are enough. It was frustrating. At about level57 I lost my entire gameplay which sucks and had to restart. This time I’m taking my time going thru levels, making sure to only destroy necessary enemies to get weapon/armor/partner/next location. And making sure that I am fully upgraded in everything before moving on to the next level. Last location I terraformed was RELIC. level26, rank points 5942 (pvp).

Well, I’ve already researched it and I’m actually upgrading it! Anyway, the UFO pistol is still far away from me because I’ve just started Black Legion first location. I’m considering to buy this MegaThrone Shotgun to help me in this first Black Legion location!
Will it be a bad choice?

    • avatar Гудвин ( Captain Captain Player's Rank 198 )

You are really near the UFO Crash Site location. You just need to defeat about 10 units to get there. And if you have a fire shotgun, you can get UFO pistol and great Alligator AR there.

      • avatar HelloShitty ( Lieutenant Colonel Lieutenant Colonel Player's Rank 294 )

What you mean by “fire shotgun”? I have the Screamer shotgun but probably it won’t be so powerful as my fully upgraded Storm AR. As I fire 1 round with Screamer and can inflict up to 260 if at close range (no upgrades to the shotgun) I can probably fire 3 rounds with Storm AR and inflict (100% accuracy) 3*161 = 483 (minimum) if I consider Attack Mode OFF and no taunting from enemies…
Even if Storm AR can fire only 2 rounds, it will make more damage than the shotgun.

      • avatar Гудвин ( Captain Captain Player's Rank 198 )

You have the Prometheus armour, right? I thought you also took Dragon shotgum in the Mechanarium location. Spiders in UFO Crash Site location are really fat and angry, so you may need it (at least till that moment when you can produce Alligator AR).

I had passed for UFO pistol with only Storm AR (fully upgraded) and Acid pistol, wearing in Stormtrooper armour (I wasn’t in Mechanarium). And I was on level 24 so I couldn’t produce the Alligator AR.
You have much better circumstances, so I think it would not be difficult to get UFO pistol for you.

  3. avatar HelloShitty ( Lieutenant Colonel Lieutenant Colonel Player's Rank 294 )

I have not unlocked Dragon shotgun… And yes, I have Prometheus armor. And you said that I’m like 10 enemies away from UFO pistol… It’s not like that… I have to kill all spiders in UFO location after I have killed, maybe here the, 10 enemies you talked about in Black Legion. So, probably I have like 40 enemies before I can discover UFO Pistol! :) I don’t have any machine gun upgraded because it’s away too expensive to produce cartridges to it! So I have bought the Assault rifle cartridges kit which give me 30% discount plus the discount given by the amount of cartridges produced!

    Hi,
may anyone tell me how/where to buy ammo for the megathrone, please?
    Awesome gun, but empty.

    • avatar HelloShitty ( Lieutenant Colonel Lieutenant Colonel Player's Rank 294 )

The ammo is the same as for any Assault Riffle. Meaning that you buy it in the same place as you buy for any other Assault Riffle!

Go to your Arsenal building and you should find there all ammo you need for any weapon!!

      • avatar Maadmatt ( Corporal Corporal Player's Rank 13 )

I get what you’re saying HelloShitty about not knowing about planning routes through the game before finding these Wiki’s.

I didn’t like the PvP part of the game as much so I concentrated on getting to 2k ranking points and stopped. I thought the next step to 5k was too much and I felt I used too many resources (Medpacks, grenades and ammo) to beat the other players, so I don’t bother anymore. As you say it depends on how you want to play the game. and I guess at 4k you’re too close to 5k to stop now. I would probably advise having a break from PvP until you have got better weapons (you could level up to Lv47 and buy the M5 SMG or if you don’t want to spend the gems, at least concentrate on getting the UFO Pistol).

I must admit that I used about 4 missile strikes to complete Defense Line because I still don’t like fighting Terminators!

    • avatar Maadmatt ( Corporal Corporal Player's Rank 13 )

The Megathrone Shotgun uses just normal shotgun cartridges.

There is only one type of ammo per type of gun and it can be used for all the different types (acid, energy, incendary and normal).

I spent the Gems on getting the Shotgun kit, worth the money if you use the shotgun alot. I used the Megathrone shotgun from about Lv27 (fully upgraded) until about Lv48 and only stopped using it as my main shotgun when I got the Acid Shotgun and fully upgraded it. I use Machine guns against bosses, but shotguns (mostly) for normal enemies.

      • avatar HelloShitty ( Lieutenant Colonel Lieutenant Colonel Player's Rank 294 )

The steps in PvP points are something like this (I can’t remember the first steps):

        800
        2000
        4000
        7000

I don’t know if there is any more step after 7000.

So, for now I’m ok with the 4000 step.
I already have UFO (fully upgraded) and also got the Acid Shotgun (fully upgraded) but never used shotguns much. Liked more the Assault Rifles… Now that I have Acid Shotgun, of course I’ve researched shotgun kit and I use it a lot every time that I come across with Kingpin Terminators…

I don’t know if I’m going to buy the M5 SMG because looks like the only great pistol that really worths to buy is the Kurbatov’s. But when I get farther deep in the Defence Line location, I’ll see if I buy it or not. I struggled a lot to defeat 3 enemies at the beginning of this location but I managed to do it somehow! That enemy nº 7 was far the most difficult I fought. Not even the Kingpin, the Maixmus Turret or the Mamoth Tank were so difficult…

  5. avatar Maadmatt ( Corporal Corporal Player's Rank 13 )

    Hi HelloShitty,

The greatly increased fire rate and bigger magazine of the M5 might mean that it is easier to kill Synthetics than with the UFO, but if you are in the Gate and already past Enemy 7, you should probably just try and get to the Dominion Pistol and save the gems.

Kurbatov’s gun is a long way off (apparently becomes available at Lv64), so that was why I got the M5 at Lv47.

    • avatar HelloShitty ( Lieutenant Colonel Lieutenant Colonel Player's Rank 294 )

Hi Maadmatt… I still have’t reached the Gate location. I’m at the Defence Line location. Sorry if I explained poorly myself. The enemy nº 7 I was talking about was at the beginning of Defence Line location where you have to destroy 3 Kingpin Terminators and a few more troops! That was by far the toughest enemy I have faced off!
